The Romanian Forest Ministry does no longer have the primary forests inventory. No problem. Until they get it back we keep occupying trees in Tentsile tents and continue mapping the last primary forests. Keep supporting us. We will win this!(Agent Green/Facebook)
Bingo, the virgin forest inventory has been found! In fact, the original study was always published here, in the scientific journal for Biodiversity Conservation. We expect Mr. Stețco Istrate, State Secretary for Forests, to follow Romanian legislation to protect the remaining virgin forests of Romanian instead of neglecting the existence of internationally published scientific studies. We call on the new forest minister to ensure that the State Secretary in charge of forests takes care of forests biodiversity, recreation function for citizens, CO2 storage and the welfare of the local communities - and not to put logging interests first.
Many of the virgin forests identified by PIN MATRA inventory have already been destroyed. The Romanian Government failed so far to conduct an updated virgin forest inventory and thus risking further loss of our forest pride and conflicts.(Agent Green/Facebook)

Radolfzell – The international foundation EuroNatur and Romanian environmental protection organisation Agent Green welcome the decision by the World Heritage Committee to inscribe 80 primeval and ancient beech forests to the UNESCO World Heritage List. This decision acknowledges the “outstanding universal value” of (endemic) European beech forests as a unique natural phenomenon, how a singe tree species can shape large parts of a whole continent. The newly inscribed forest areas include most precious forests such as Nera Springs reserve, parts of Domogled and Cozia national parks as well as Sinca and Slatioara secular forests in Romania. The country hosts most of Europe’s primeval beech forest heritage. “This is a historic move. Never before so many different components involving 10 nations were inscribed to the World Heritage list. This is also a big step forward for international cooperation in nature conservation. And it is a strong signal for protection of Europe’s last primeval forests. Hopefully this decision leads to a turbo boost for forest conservation efforts all over Europe,” Gabriel Schwaderer, executive director of EuroNatur Foundation stated.

A Szinice-térségben mintegy ötven hektáron gyulladt ki a hétvégén a lombhullató erdő, amelynek oltásában Romániában először vetettek be repülőgépet: a katasztrófavédelmi egységek munkáját vasárnap és hétfőn is a hadsereg egyik Spartan C-27-es repülőgépe segítette, amely alkalmanként hat darab ezerliteres víztartályt dobott le az égő erdőre.

A rádió riporterei a poleszjei állami radioökológiai védett övezetben jártak, ami egy erdős terület közvetlenül a csernobili lezárt zóna mellett, a határ fehérorosz oldalán (a csernobili lezárt zónában készült riportunkat itt olvashatják). Ennek a területnek egy részén most az állam hivatalosan is engedélyt adott, hogy kísérleti jelleggel gazdasági hasznosításra is kitermeljenek fát.

How radioactive wood from Belarus is sold across the world
We find ourselves on the territory of the radioactive reserve, 63rdsection of the Narowla forestry district – a usual pinery, no brown or ill-looking trees, next to the site where freshly logged wood (mature pine trees, six-meter-long commercial timber) is being stacked. Wood choppers say it is perfect for construction. Without a question, Mikalai presents all the paperwork for the timber. Radiation in the chopping area is only twice the normal levels – a clean spot by local standards.

Doina Pana vízügyi és erdőgazdálkodási miniszter június 18-án reggel sajtótájékoztatót tartott, amivel sikeresen felhergelte a nézőket. A sajtótájékoztatót élőben nézhette mindenki a közösségi oldalon.
Elhangzott ilyen mondat, hogy "Jelenleg sehol nincs tarvágás és azok a felvételek, amik(a sajtóban) láthatók valószínűleg 2008-ban vagy 2013-ig készülhettek." Elég rosszul sikerült az időzítés, a Digi 24 tévéadó július 17-21 között Románia lassított felvételen, a zöldarany letarolása(Romania cu incetinitorul: Masacrul aurului verde) címmel mutatott be négy részes sorozatot az illegális fakitermelésről. Még elhangzott pár nem kevésbé meghökkentő állítás, majd a miniszter asszony sokáig részletezte az Erdőfelügyelő platform fejlesztésére kötött szerződés körüli bonyodalmakat, amit a beavatottakon kívül nem sokan értettek. A szerződést még a technokrata kormány kötötte, akik munkásságát újabban tűzzel-vassal irtanák. Az Erdőfelügyelőt a civilek saját sikerüknek érezték és most a sok bürokratikus huzavona sorolásával, úgy tűnt, hogy veszélyben van, ezt még egy kisvárosban is éreztük, a bukaresti civilszervezetek többet tudtak és azonnal akcióba lendültek.

Erős nemtetszést váltott ki több országos civil szervezet körében a Vízügyi és Erdészeti Minisztériumnak az a döntése, hogy többé nem támogatják a minisztérium honlapjáról is elérhető erdőfelügyelő weboldalt. A civilek szerint a minisztérium ezzel megszünteti az egyetlen hiteles felületet, amelynek használatával a törvénytelen erdőkitermelést meg lehetett akadályozni.
